Wendy's Jazz Cap
One of my prized possessions, this was sold at Wendy's fast food stores in the 80's (there were about four different colored/patterned hats...needless to say, I prefer the black one).
This photo is of my black jazz cap Mark II (I wore my first one for about two years straight, and it got all funked up...to put it mildly), which I wear sparingly, so as to preserve its specialness for decades to come.
I expected to find some facts about Wendy's jazz caps online, but apparently there's nothing really out there.
It is perhaps fitting that they remain an enigma...

anatomy
A not-so-great photo of a homework assignment I had in college. I was in the middle of working on it when I snapped the picture (and the body was full-length--the lower bits got cropped off in the photo). Done with pastels and conte crayon...
Speaking of pastels...I used to do a lot of drawings with pastels, and I think I was pretty good at it, but after a while it got to a point where I start sneezing out multi-colored snot. Not really the cleanest--or probably healthiest--media to use long-term.

Dax's Dreamscape
Last night I had a dream that I had to walk through some European, Middle Ages-era town and sprinkle water on every person and animal I saw. I was holding a bucket of water--at least, I guess it was water--and by sprinkling some drops on each person/animal I would change them from evil to good.
When I got to the town square there was a big oak tree in the center...embedded in the trunk of the tree was a fuse box. I opened the door to the box...each fuse switch was labeled with a different sin...Envy, Pride, etc. I checked each switch to see if any had been tripped, but they hadn't.
Inside the box, below the switches, were two books--one was an old book that seemed to be about demons...it was in Latin, and full of lots of cool engravings. The other book was a biography of Dio, entitled--I think--"The Life and Times of Ronnie James Dio".
Then I woke up.

black is the new black
The only drawing I've been doing lately has been towards the rejuvenated Big Black story.
After my epiphany last week, I decided to pursue a more disciplined approach to this thing...I layout two pages at a time, starting from the beginning of the story, adding some slight detail along the way (the angle of certain shadows, the way the character's hand is in a certain panel, etc). Once I've laid out the entire story, I'll go back to the beginning and start in on the "real" penciling. After I've worked through the whole thing like that, I'll start back at the beginning again and ink it all.
In theory I try to do something kind of along these lines with all my stuff, but it tends to unravel at some point, to where I've got half-inked pages here, and rough layouts over there, all totally out of sequence. See, I'm not a very linear guy. But I'm making a serious effort now.
Anyways, there won't be much Black content on here for awhile, but here's a sketchbook drawing of what the 3rd panel on page 3 will look like:
